Latest Scolarships at University of Cape Town for African Students

The University of Cape Town issue call for proposals for Creative Arts Fellowships, to be taken under the auspices of the Gordon Institute for Performing and Creative Arts (GIPCA).GIPCA is an innovative institution at University of Cape Town promoting new interdisciplinary creative research in the disciplines of Music, Dance, Fine Art, Drama, Creative Writing, Film and New Media, and in particular collaborations among disciplines. Interdisciplinarity is a key theme of the institute, defined here as consisting of two or more disciplines, with at least one being a participating GIPCA department at UCT. Projects should be created specifically for development in our institute.

The Sir Donald Gordon Fellowships in Creative Arts will offered for the fourth year to South African Postgraduate Students at University of Cape Town.


Field of Study
Arts- Music, Dance, Fine Art, Drama, Creative Writing, Film and New Media

Eligibility:
Individuals who graduated with masters’ degrees or an equivalent in any discipline in the performing and creative arts are eligible to apply.
All applicants must be able to show currency in their fields. Fellows will work full-time in the departments of their choice (most likely the department from which they graduated) as well as with the Institute's various projects and be involved in the creative research life of university staff and students

Application requirements:
  • * All applicants should submit a proposal, including details of their postgraduate degree, the project they wish to undertake, and the form in which they will realise it. The proposal must clearly indicate the interdisciplinary nature of the project.
  • * All applicants should indicate their proposed area of contribution to the host department. This requires some awareness of departments’ teaching, studio and postgraduate programmes.
  • * Three referees familiar with the applicant’s work should be asked to email referee reports directly to fin-gipca{at}uct.ac.za before the due date.
  • * For publicity purposes, please include: an abstract of the proposal (max. 250 words); a 1-2 page curriculum vitae including significant awards, publications, showings, educational background, and artistic profile; and one high-resolution head-shot.
  • * Short detailed budget.
  • * All projects must be completed and ready for public showing by 1 February 2013.
